XCOM 2 War Of The Chosen is developed by Firaxis Games and it released in August 2017. It is an expansion to the game XCOM 2 and has received good response. It brings new enemies, new hero characters, modifiers and more behaviors for characters.
The Challenge Mode is a single-player score attack mode that enables you to climb the rankings of the leaderboards for each of the daily challenges. You get a pre-determined squad of troops, XCOM soldiers, ADVENT troops or Alien Forces or even a mix of them. You will tackle some single-level mission objectives to climb the leaderboards. Each daily challenge features a familiar objective. But the challenge here is to use unfamiliar troops to achieve your goal. Points earned are based on the following factors.
- Complete the Objective
- Enemy Kills
- Uninjured Soldiers
- Surviving Soldiers
- Civilian Rescues (if applicable to the mission type)
- Time Remaining
Each challenge has a time limit of 30 minutes. Also, you only get one shot at completing the level, regardless of whether you failed or pass. Now, here are a few tips on how to excel in this game mode.
How to Excel in XCOM 2 War Of The Chosen Challenge Mode
CAREFULLY STUDY THE INTEL
Go to the Squad info tab to see what all troops you have. Familiarise yourself with each of their strengths and weaknesses. Read and understand each of their abilities to come up with the best tactic of completing the objectives. Do not rush to Accept Challenge. Understand your troops first.
TAKE SOME TIME TO REVIEW WHERE YOU CAN GET POINTS
Before starting the level properly, take a minute or two to look at where you can score points. The point distribution may be weighted differently for each challenge so see your surroundings and take your time to see where you can score the maximum points.
BE QUICK
You get more points for using less number of turns. Also, the more the time remaining on the clock, the more you will score. However, this does not mean that rushing is a good idea. Play aggressively but not too rashly. Avoid making mistakes. If you think you are taking too much time, no problem. Make sure you take less time tomorrow. Gradually, you will get better.
DONOT GROUP TOGETHER YOUR TROOPS
Do not ever have more than one troop in the same location as enemies here throw grenades more often than not and if you are grouped together, one hit can take out your whole team.
VIEW REPLAYS
If you still are unable to get better after playing for long hours, consider working smarter, not harder. View replays of players who are among the top and see how they coordinate their troops and use various tactics. Learn from them.
