Niantic Labs has been continuously updating Pokemon GO to meet the increasing demands that a huge game like this comes with, and now they’re targeting cheaters such as bot users and GPS-spoofers.
It’s been very common that people have been hacking the game to access its code, capture rare Pokemon or spoofing the GPS system so they can play without actually walking. Niantic Labs is now taking extreme measures – if anyone’s caught breaking the Terms of Service like this, they’ll receive a permanent ban. Polygon reported that popular Pokemon GO bots such as NecroBot are shutting down following the announcement.
Niantic’s statement reads:
“[our ban measure] includes, but is not limited to: falsifying your location, using emulators, modified or unofficial software and/or accessing Pokemon Go clients or backends in an unauthorized manner including through the use of third-party software.”
