Dead Rising 4: Why Capcom Replaced Frank West’s Actor

The upcoming Dead Rising 4 brings the franchise back to its roots on many gameplay aspects, including bringing back main character Frank West. However, his voice actor, TJ Rotolo, was not brought back for the fourth title and Capcom has explained the reason.

Dead Rising asset manager Trant Lee-Amies said that Frank West has “evolved” since the first game: “We wanted to work with someone to provide a more grizzled, older take on Frank at this stage–just don’t ask him about his age,” Lee-Amies said.

Dead Rising 4 takes place 16 years after the first game, so the decision makes sense somewhat. It’s understandable that Capcom would want to cast an actor that sounds older, but fans will surely miss the voice they’ve associated with Frank West all this time.

Dead Rising 4 releases December 6 on Xbox One and PC.
