- Press Windows + R key to open Run Command box
- Type regedit.exe and press Enter
- When the Registry window opens, locate the following key:
- Right-click on the shell key
- Then select New
- Then select Key from the menu
- Add a name (this is the name of the application that you want to add in the desktop right-click menu, for instance VLC)
- Right-click on the new key
- Select New, then Key from the menu
- This new key should be named command in lowercase
- From the Windows\System32 folder, find the full path to the application
- Right click on the application exe and and select the Copy as Path
- Now click on command on the left side
- Double-click on the (Default) key in the right side
- In the String value textbox paste in the full path to the executable
- Close the Registry window.
