20 years back on this day, Naughty Dog unveiled the first Crash Bandicoot title on PSOne. The “anthropomorphic marsupial” was a blockbuster and paved the way for further entries in the series.
By fall of ’98, Crash Bandicoot was already a well-known franchise with three released titles. Crash Team Racing debuted on the Sony platform in 1999. However, things turned out different after the turn of the millennium and the franchise slowly lost its luster and developers moved on with new projects.
Developer Naughty Dog which has also developed some of the award winning modern day titles as well has had never denied the fact that a new game might see daylight some day. Sony, in an official announcement at E3, finally confirmed that Crash 1, Crash 2, and Crash Warped will come to PS4 in 2017.
The development of the revamped version is being handled by Vicarious Visions.
