Recent reports suggested that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild would support dual audio feature. This meant players could use voice and subtitle language interchangeably. So, if you use Japanese audio, you could have English subtitles.
However, speaking to IGN Portugal, producer Eiji Aonuma has now confirmed that this feature is not present in the game. Aonuma said that the system’s language will be required to be changed in order to play the game in your desired language. But doing so, would change everything to that particular language including the in-game texts.
“In the case of Nintendo Switch, if you change the language of the system, you can change the game to Japanese, but that will change everything to Japanese,” said Aonu. “Unfortunately, it is not possible to play with English text and Japanese voices, for example.”
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is going to hit Wii U and Switch this March.
