How to Print a Web Page, Article or Online Recipe: A Simple Guide

Want to create hard copies of your favorite online articles, recipes, or web pages? Check out this simple guide on how to print a web page.

An average-sized ink cartridge can print 220 pages. In a modern age where the internet rules, many of us don’t think about this small fact. We have millions of articles, books, recipes, and other texts available at our fingertips.

As great as technology is, sometimes you want a physical, tangible version. This is especially true for things like recipes, where your hands may be messy, and you don’t want to get your device dirty. It’s also helpful for things where you may not have the ability to look at a web page for information when you need it.

This guide will help you learn how to print a web page.

How to Print a Web Page on Chrome

If you want to print a web page on chrome, there’s an easy method. Click on the three vertical dots in the upper right corner of the window. You can also use the “Ctrl+P” command.

Then use the dialogue box that pops up to make your print selections and print the current page. The downside of this is that it will print the page exactly as you see it.

Another option when printing online articles is to print them in “reading mode” to eliminate the clutter an advertisements. Click on “Menu” and then select “Distill Page”. Then follow the above steps to print this clean version of the text.

Printing this way will cut down on the number of pages so you can print more on a single ink cartridge.

Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Apple Safari all have their own version of reader mode. That way, it doesn’t matter what your preferred browser is, you can print an article from a website and have it be clean.

PDF Method

Sometimes you may want to print more than just text. This is when a net pdf library can come in handy. You can create high-quality PDF files from HTML pages or URL strings. This lets you keep more than just the text.

You can also create a PDF by clicking the print option in your browser. Then instead of choosing your printer, select “Save as PDF”. Now you have a file on your computer.

Copy and Paste Method

This method is simple and a bit outdated. You may find that it doesn’t work on all websites. You’ll down click and drag your mouse over the text you wish to print. Then let the mouse button go when you’ve highlighted everything.

Drag and drop the highlighted text into a Word doc on your computer. You may find that some websites protect their text. In this case, this method won’t work because you won’t be able to select the text.

Print Web Pages Like a Pro

Now that you’ve read this guide, you know how to print a web page. The simplest way is to print directly from your internet browser. But this may not give you the cleanest version of the text.

Your best option is to print in reader mode or convert the webpage to a PDF. Then you can have the file as a document that you can share or print again at a later date.
