Following the announcement of the Nintendo Switch, it was reported last week that Nintendo’s Wii U would be ceasing production starting November 4, which is two days from now. A lot of sources started confirming this and outlets picked it up, at which point Nintendo denied to comment.
Now, a Nintendo spokesperson finally came out and denied this report: “There is no change to our continuing production [of the Wii U]. Even though Nintendo Switch is going to go on sale, Wii U production is scheduled to continue”. It makes sense since there should be at least a few new games for Nintendo’s old system in the pipeline – Zelda: Breath of the Wild, for one.
