The news comes as a celebration for Activision Blizzard’s Overwatch surpassing 15 million players this Thursday. This number adds up “box and digital sales, internet game room players, and multi-user console households.” So, following this, Blizzard announced that it will hold the very first Overwatch World Cup at BlizzCon 2016, which takes place in November.
The teams selected from each eligible country will be voted by fans starting next week. These will participate in best-of-three, single elimination and deathmatch competitions; and the top 16 teams will travel to BlizzCon to participate in the World Cup.
