Phil Spencer, Xbox boss was on a twitter session – answering various questions by Xbox Fans. In the session, Spencer said that he loves single player games but they’re shipping into a heavy service based market.
This essentially hints us that Microsoft may roll the dice and make PVP heavy games in the future.
Replying to a fan, he discussed this via twitter:
It's healthy to disagree. I love playing SP games. Point is majority of play today is in service games, that's just a fact.

He also mentioned earlier that he wanted the single player game market to thrive, and that the company was looking for tools and business models for developers so that there are better opportunities for the platform.
We should want SP success, imo. Liking great examples doesn't mean genre is healthy. I want to find models/tools to help.

We can assume that Phil’s twitter ramblings aren’t without any hint for gamers, Microsoft may be working on single player games which may be announced by E3 2017. For more updates, stay tuned.
