The Pokemon GO Buddy Update has been rolled out to both Android and iOS devices as of September 13. The update adds not only the Buddy feature where the player can select a Pokemon to walk alongside him as his buddy, earning him extra Candy and XP training for that Pokemon, it also adds support for Pokemon GO Plus.
The Pokemon GO Plus accessory, which functions like a smartwatch dedicated to the game, was meant to release in July but it got delayed until September. We’re now at September, and there’s not a specific date. However, the support this update adds hint that it will indeed release this month.
Niantic had announced the Buddy feature last week after data miners had discovered it.
