Pokemon GO is still a phenomenon and definitely one of the most played games and apps (both apply) of the moment. However, it’s not the craziness it was when it released back in July. A recent report stated that the game lost over 15 million users since August, and the people actively playing the game dropped 79 percent since July.
It’s not a surprise, then, that the biggest update in September adds the Buddy feature which is a key change to the gameplay mechanics, and support for the Pokemon GO Plus accessory which is highly anticipated by fans and is meant to finally release this month.
With these changes, the game could see a resurgence in active players. These are certainly big changes to the formula regardless. Furthermore, if this doesn’t bring players in, developer Niantic could always release a new generation of Pokemon, like Johto. That is an ace in the hole for the game.
