One of the biggest surprises surrounding the PS4 Pro announcement is that Sony’s upgraded PS4 won’t have a 4K Blu-Ray player. PlayStation president Andrew House has clarified Sony’s vision on the matter: “We see a trend toward video streaming.”
“Certainly with our user base, it’s the second biggest use case for people’s time on the system so we place more emphasis on that area,” House clarified. Sony’s new system will feature new YouTube and Netflix apps capable of streaming 4K/HDR content. Sony is going digital, and mobile as well.
The PS4 Pro releases November 10 for $399 in the US.
