This is a big week for gamers because Red Dead Redemption 2 was finally announced. We have to wait until October 20 for the first trailer; right now, we only have one picture. So let’s work with that.
This is a prediction post, and you can come back on Thursday to tell us how right or wrong it is. We at TheTech52 will apply the Occam’s Razor principle to RDR 2 – that is, the simplest explanation has to be correct. We believe the game stars John Marston again and will be a prequel.
Continuing with that theory, what we see in the picture is Dutch Van Der Linde’s gang from the first game – the gang John used to ride with until they left him for dead after a failed robbery, at which point Marston survives and helps the law catch his former partners (the plot of the first game).
We only know a few members of that gang – Dutch Van Der Linde, Bill Williamson, and Javier Escuela. Dutch and Williamson are both gruff, rugged-looking people with thick mustaches. They could very well be the two guys directly to the left and right of the center character. As far as Escuela, he’s thin and wears a bullet vest. Looks a lot like the character next to the one on the far left if you ask us.
Which leaves the center character – is that John? It very well could be. A scar-less John Marston who will get his notorious face scars at some point in Red Dead Redemption 2. Of course, this is all speculation. To be more truthful, what this is is venting our hype for Rockstar’s western epic – October 20 can’t come soon enough.
