As we get closer to the expected release of the Nintendo NX in early 2017, more and more reports about the system are coming in. There was a rumor a few months ago that Nintendo’s next-gen system would be using cartridges, but now the information is stronger as the Wall Street Journal has heard from people “familiar with the matter” that this is true.
Cartridges can obviously hold less data than discs, so it’s unclear how this will be beneficial to the system, if at all. Xbox One and PS4 games can currently hold up to 50GB of data. It’s possible NX games will require some sort of installation on the system to work.
The Nintendo NX is expected to release in March of 2017.
