Samsung Officially Kills the Galaxy Note 7 After Replacements Catch on Fire

The insane story of the Galaxy Note 7 has come to an end. After Samsung called back almost 3 million devices that were overheating and exploding, the replacements started catching on fire as well. At that point, Samsung admitted defeat and ceased production of the Note 7.

The company said today in a statement, “For the benefit of consumers’ safety, we stopped sales and exchanges of the Galaxy Note 7 and have consequently decided to stop production.”

There have been callbacks due to issues in the consumer electronic world before, but this is the first time an issue outright kills a device. Certainly, a day to remember.
