The previously announced Sonic the Hedgehog movie that Sony Pictures is working on has found its executive producer – Tim Miller, director of the 2016 smash hit Deadpoool.
Tim Miller was going to direct Deadpool 2, but he left the project after having some disagreements with producer and main actor Ryan Reynolds – Miller wanted the film to have a big budget, while Reynolds wants it to remain on a similar budget and maintain the original movie’s independent feel. Reynolds being Deadpool himself ultimately has the last word, so he and Miller parted ways.
Jeff Fowler will direct the Sonic the Hedgehog movie and work closely with Miller. An opening date still hasn’t been announced; the movie’s very early in production, but the original announcement of the project teased a 2018 release. Sonic also has an awesome looking game coming next year, Sonic Mania.
