In a reply to a recent tweet of a fan, EA confirmed that there won’t be any Episode VII themed content in the Star Wars Battlefront DLC.
“Our team is focusing on the original trilogy for this release of Star Wars Battlefront,” said the official Twitter account of the game.
The upcoming Battle of Jakku DLC is inspired by the events of the recently released The Force Awakens. It is however set 29 years prior to the events of the film so it can’t be considered as an Episode VII centered content.
Electronic Arts and DICE have lots and lots of DLC plans for the game, first of which will debut in 2016. There will be at least four expansion packs for Star Wars Battlefront like any other DICE title. All the DLCs together will deliver the following content over the months:
- Over 20 new items, including weapons, vehicles, and Star Cards for both Rebels and Imperials.
- 4 additional Heroes and Villains (these were not named).
- 16 new multiplayer maps featuring “new locations.”
- 4 new game modes.
The Star Wars Battlefront Season Pass costs $50 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. In addition to these, DICE has also announced plans of releasing free maps and Star Cards.
