Bandai Namco, like many other gaming publishers, released their financial report for the operating quarter that ended on June 30 and stated that Dark Souls 3 had “favorable” sales and significantly helped the company’s overall profits for the period. Usually, when a company reports “favorable” sales, it means it surpassed the expectations they had set for it, which were already quite high considering the pedigree of the franchise.
They didn’t disclose a specific figure, though we know FromSoftware’s latest game shipped 3 million copies by May. It’s not surprising, seeing as how Dark Souls is easily Namco’s biggest franchise. Their operating income increased by 9 million yen compared to last year, and their overall profits by 7,5 million yen.
