NVIDIA Comments on Nintendo Switch Hardware

We don’t know how powerful the Nintendo Switch hardware is, or much about it all, really, except that it will be using an Nvidia Pascal graphics card instead of the traditional AMD (and that it can run Skyrim Remastered).

Following the reveal of Nintendo’s next-gen system today, Nvidia said in a blog post that the console uses a custom Tegra processor. “The high-efficiency scalable processor includes an Nvidia GPU based on the same architecture as the world’s top-performing GeForce gaming graphics cards.”

They continue: “The Nintendo Switch’s gaming experience is also supported by fully custom software, including a revamped physics engine, new libraries, advanced game tools, and libraries.” The idea is the system will be just below, if not as powerful as the PS4.

The Nintendo Switch releases in March of 2017. One of the first big Nintendo titles for it is Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
