Quake Champions Dev is Considering Free-to-Play Model

id Software is trying to figure out the best model for its upcoming first-person shooter Quake Champions. Studio executive Tim Willits told PC Gamer making this decision has been a “really hard problem”.

“We’re trying to figure out exactly what people want more of”, he stated. “And it’s not like we know and just aren’t trying to tell anybody; we’re still trying to figure this out.”

Quake Champions will be a PC exclusive, at least initially, and a release date hasn’t been specified yet, not even a window. The game is still early in development. Willits also commented on the game’s graphical capabilities: “You’ll be able to turn down your specs and get a decent game at lower-end, but we want to shine on good systems.”
