By Elevated command line, we mean command prompt with administrative privileges. That’s right. When you open command prompt using Run or by searching cmd in Start, it does not come with the privileges to run admin level commands. So to get full access to perform certain tasks, you need to open elevated command prompt. You will find the steps to get admin rights to command prompt below.
How to Open Elevated Command Prompt
Option 1
- Click Start.
- Now in the search text box, type cmd.
- When you see Command Prompt in the search result, right-click on it.
- Then select Run as Administrator.
- This is lead to a User Account Control message to pop up asking whether ‘Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?’
- Click Yes to confirm.
- This will open Command Prompt as Administrator or Elevated Command Prompt.
Option 2
- Click Start.
- Then in the search text box, type cmd.
- You will see Command prompt in the search result just as before. But you don’t have to click it.
- Now press Ctrl + Shift + Enter.
- This will open the pop up User Account Control window with the message ‘Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?’ .
- Click Yes to to confirm.
- This will open Elevated Command Prompt.
