How to Change Display Language in Windows 10

You can change display language in Windows 10 at any time. You can have your preferred language as the display language. Let’s see how to change the default language in Windows 10.

Change display language in Windows 10 by following the given steps:

  1. First you need to install the Language you need in Windows 10
    1. Log into Windows 10 as administrator
    2. Open Start Menu
    3. Open Settings
    4. Then go to Time & Language
    5. Click Region & language on the left pane
    6. Then click Add a language on the right pane
    7. In the window that open, you will get a list of languages that you can installed
    8. Download the one you want
    9. Go back to Time & Language
    10. Click the language that you installed
    11. Out of the three options that you get, choose Options
    12. Then click Download to download the language pack and keyboard
  2.  Next you need to change the Display Language
    1. Sign-in to the user account for which you want to change the language
    2. In the Control Panel, under the Languages option, select a language
    3. Click Set as default
    4. You will get a notification Will be display language after next sign-in
    5. Sign out and then sign-in to see the new display language

Now if you want to change Windows default system language, the steps to follow are given below:

Applying a language pack to a user account may not necessarily change the Windows default system language used in Welcome, Sign In, Sign Out, Shutdown screens, Start menu section titles, and Built In Administrator account.

Note: Before you proceed to change the Windows default system language

  • You must have an additional language pack installed
  • One of the user accounts must be using a different display language. It should not be the default system language
  • In case you have only one user account, the display language must have been changed

Now the steps to change Windows default system language:

  1. Open Control Panel
  2. Open Region
  3. Select Administrative tab
  4. Click on Copy settings
  5. Copy your current language to the system account
  6. Restart
