Dragon Ball FighterZ Guide: How To Block And Use Attacks Effectively

Here we are with another Dragon Ball FighterZ guide and this is about Dragon Ball FighterZ how to block and use attacks effectively. To dominate in online mode, you will have to master the game mechanics, two of the most important being blocking and attacking. This guide will show how to do those two things effectively in the game.

Dragon Ball FighterZ released on 26 Jan 2018. The game’s story is about Goku and his friends set to fight a new battle against a revived Android 16. There is more to the opposition’s camp. Goku and friends will be going against an army of super androids designed like Android 21. The game is available worldwide from Jan 26, except for Japan, where it will be releasing on Feb 1, 2018. The game is published by Bandai Namco Entertainment and will be available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

First up, the default controls. Here they are.

  • Light attack – Square/X
  • Medium attack – Triangle/Y
  • Heavy attack – Circle/B
  • Special attack – Cross/A
  • Z assist 1 – Left bumper
  • Z assist 2 – Left trigger
  • Change character – Hold left trigger
  • Dragon Rush – Right bumper/Light + medium attack buttons
  • Super Dash – Right trigger/Heavy + special attack buttons
  • Ki Charge – Light + special attack buttons (Square/X + Cross/A)
  • Vanish – Medium + heavy attack buttons (Triangle/Y + Circle/B)

As you can see, there is more than one way to perform a super move. There are also two assist moves. You can use both of these to call out your first or second teammate to temporarily help you out in the battle. These Z assist moves call in quickly one of your teammates to have a single shot at your opponent before going back. This is different from the change character button where you just switch characters.

How to Block Attacks

Now, how to block? This is actually difficult mainly because you need to time the block perfectly. Use the left analog stick and press backwards to block a normal attack or back and downwards to block a low attack. Timing is very important here. You need to execute the block the same time as your opponent tries to hit you. There is a tutorial mission for blocking so play it.

These are some of the basic ways to master this game. It is highly recommended to master these aspects before moving on to the more flashier Super Moves of the characters. For that, we have a whole separate guide so do check that out. That’s all about Dragon Ball FighterZ how to block and use attacks effectively.
