How to Use Beam Stream in Windows 10 Creators Update

Beam is a live streaming video platform. This service started in Jan, 2016 and has now acquired by Microsoft since Oct, 2016. What makes Beam different from other similar services it lets viewers to interact with the videos being streamed. Here we will see how we can use Beam stream in Windows 10 Creators Update.

As stated by Microsoft, in March 2017, Xbox One got a Beam viewing app as well as direct broadcasting to Beam added to it. In April 2017, the direct Beam Broadcasting was added to Windows 10 as well. Windows 10 Creators Update brought Beam streaming to Windows 10 and also added a chat feature. This feature make things more interactive.

How to Use Beam Stream in Windows 10 Creators Update

Most games that run in windowed mode will work fine. But you can confirm your game by pressing Win+G keys to open the Game Bar. If everything is ok, then the game will appear there. Now proceed with the steps mentioned below.

  1. Enable Beam Broadcaster. To do so, go to Xbox One/ Windows 10 tab and enable the option ‘Broadcast Gameplay’ if not already enabled.
  2. Open the game you want to Beam stream.
  3. Press Win+G keys to open Game Bar.
  4. Now click on the ‘satellite’ broadcasting icon and agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. Next step is to decide whether the stream will be for only game or the entire display.
  6. Then click ‘Start Stream’.
